Questions we get asked

Everything you need to know about Kindling — what it does, how it works, what it costs, and how it compares.

What is Kindling?

Kindling is an AI marketing teammate built for startup teams of one to three people. You write one brief about what you are launching, and Kindling builds your entire campaign across up to 18 channels — blog posts, email sequences, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Product Hunt, newsletter, Instagram, press releases, landing page copy, Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Instagram Ads, sales one-pagers, customer updates, and sales outreach. Each piece is written for how that specific platform works. Everything is editable before you publish.

How is Kindling different from ChatGPT or Claude?

ChatGPT and Claude are blank canvases — you have to prompt for every single piece and maintain all the context yourself. Kindling already knows what a startup marketing campaign needs. You write one brief, pick your channels, and get back a full campaign with consistent messaging across all of them. No prompt engineering. No copy-pasting between tabs.

How is Kindling different from Jasper?

Jasper costs $59 per seat and is built for 50-person marketing departments with brand governance needs and approval workflows. Kindling starts free and is $25/mo for unlimited campaigns. It is built specifically for the one-to-three person startup marketing team that needs to move fast without enterprise complexity.

How is Kindling different from Copy.ai?

Copy.ai pivoted to enterprise "Go-to-Market AI" at $249/mo. Their real automation features require the enterprise tier. Kindling is $25/mo for full campaign generation across 18 channels. No enterprise sales process. No seat minimums.

What channels does Kindling support?

Kindling supports 18 channels organized into three categories. Content channels: blog post (short and long form), email, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, Reddit, Product Hunt, newsletter, Instagram, press release, and landing page copy. Paid ad channels: Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and Instagram Ads. Sales and customer channels: sales one-pager, customer update email, and sales outreach email.

How much does Kindling cost?

Kindling has three tiers. Spark is free and includes one campaign per month with three content channels. Flame is $25/mo and includes unlimited campaigns with four channels. Bonfire is $49/mo and unlocks all 18 channels across content, paid ads, and sales enablement, plus early access to new agents.

What is a marketing brief in Kindling?

A brief is a short description of what you are launching or promoting. You tell Kindling the campaign type (product launch, feature update, event, etc.), your goal, a few sentences about the campaign, and your timeline. That single input is used to generate consistent content across every channel you select.

Can I edit the content Kindling creates?

Yes. Every piece of content Kindling generates is fully editable inline before you export or publish. It is your first draft, not a black box. You can adjust tone, add details, or rewrite sections while keeping the messaging consistent across channels.

Who built Kindling?

Kindling was built by Neely Thomson, a growth marketer who has been the solo marketing team at multiple startups. She built the tool she wished she had — one that already knows what startup marketing campaigns need, instead of making you orchestrate everything yourself.

Is Kindling an AI writing tool?

No. Kindling is not a writing tool or a template library. It is a marketing teammate that thinks in campaigns. You give it a brief about what you are launching, and it plans and writes your entire campaign across multiple channels. The difference is that Kindling understands how each platform works and writes accordingly — your Reddit post does not sound like your LinkedIn, and your Google Ad copy matches your landing page.

How long does it take to generate a campaign?

Under a minute. You write your brief in about two minutes, pick your channels, and Kindling generates the full campaign in real time. What used to take 15 to 20 hours of writing across channels takes less than five minutes.

Do I need a credit card to start?

No. Kindling is free to start with the Spark tier. No credit card required. You can generate your first campaign immediately.

What kind of startups is Kindling built for?

Kindling is built for seed to Series B startups where one or two people handle all the marketing. If you are the person writing the blog, sending the emails, posting on social, running ads, and building sales collateral — all by yourself — Kindling was built for you.

Does Kindling keep my messaging consistent across channels?

Yes. Because every channel is generated from the same brief, the core messaging stays consistent. Your blog post, email, LinkedIn post, ad copy, and sales one-pager all tell the same story, adapted for how each platform works.

What other agents does Kindling offer besides Campaign Builder?

Campaign Builder is the flagship agent. Additional agents are coming soon, including a Content Calendar Builder, Email Sequence Builder, Weekly Report Writer, Competitive Analysis agent, PRD Generator, and Design Brief Generator. Free-tier agents like Campaign Brief, PRD Generator, and Design Brief are already available.

Can I try Kindling before paying?

Yes. The Spark tier is completely free — one campaign per month with three content channels. No credit card. No trial period. You can use it as long as you want and upgrade when you need more campaigns or channels.

The best way to understand Kindling is to try it. Write a brief, pick your channels, see what comes back.
